Praying in the Spirit

"With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints." (Ephesians 6:18)

Satan doesn't want us to pray and will put up obstacles to stop us (i.e. tiredness).

lady_prayingPray and mean it - prayer is very powerful.

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings." (Romans 8:26)

As we pray the Holy Spirit will pick us up and carry us to the throne of grace.

"But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing, among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God." (2 Corinthians 4: 3-4)

"since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened-so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe, as displayed in the exercise of his immense strength." (Ephesians 1: 18-19)

"And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him." (1 John 5: 14-15)

We should pray for each other, for enlightenment, for protection of the church and ourselves, and pray that our vision will be clear

Prayer Binds Satan, so those in his grasp are Released

"How else can someone enter a strong man's house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can thoroughly plunder the house." (Matthew 12: 29)

priest praying in the spiritWhen we pray we're joining God and laying hold to Gods property and claiming it back.

We must pray for the lost, family, friends etc.

The Devil wants to take people to hell.

The more we pray for someone, the less Satan's hold on them.

Praying for people involved with the occult

If we come across people who are involved in darkness, we should pray that the demon be cut off and the person be free.

Pray that the demons would be confused and their hold weakened on the person.

Pray that the person may be strengthened in faith in God.

Pray that the person may distinguish between their own thoughts and those of Satan.

Pray for them to recognise the demonic presence and not be confused, but willingly seek Godly council and help.

Pray that God will protect and guide His child and set angelic forces at work to break up every scheme of the enemy.

Praying for the Lost

When praying for the lost, ask God to send someone to them with the good news.

"Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest." (Matthew 9: 37-38)

"How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them?" (Romans 10: 14)

Pray that God will give them life.

"For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation." (Romans 10: 10)

Pray against thoughts raised up against the knowledge of God and for the binding of Satan.

Pray that the eyes of the lost will be opened to the truth.
