Gods PresenceBefore I became a follower of Jesus (a Christian), I didn't know Gods presence. But I do now... I remember one of my first experiences of Gods presence I was singing along with the rest of the Church, but I was also thinking about 100 other things as well, my head was full of thoughts. I was busy thinking and worrying about everything, then suddenly I felt extremely calm and at peace, my worries vanished. It was as if I had been picked up off the floor and dipped into - what I can only describe as - a 'pool of peace'. Then lifted back out of the pool and put back on the floor again. I was completely saturated, dripping wet with peace.
It was as if God had said.. "You don't need to worry about anything, I'll take care of it, now be quiet". "Be still, and know that I am God". (Psalm 46:10) I instantly stopped singing, I knew that God did not require me to sing. He just wanted me to be quiet and rest in His presence. An amazing experience. "Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid". (John 14:27 GNB) Gods Presence UnmistakableYou'll know when you experience Gods presence, as deep calm and peace will be with you. When I experience Gods presence, It's as though I am completely alone, all the hustle and bustle of life is gone. I feel tremendous peace, I know God is with me. "Now may the God of peace be with you all. Amen". (Rom 15:33) Although you can't see God (He's invisible), you'll know you're not alone. "Now to the eternal king, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory forever and ever! Amen". (1Timothy 1:17 NET) How to Experience Gods PresenceGods presence will come when God comes! So you will need to seek Him, you will also need to be completely honest and transparent about things. No point hiding anything from God, He knows Everything (as I've found out!). You also need to confess you're sins and be willing to turn from ALL sin (repentance). |
