Is Freemasonry and Christianity Compatible?
Is freemasonry a social organisation or a religion? Are the two compatible or do they sharply contradict each other? Let's examine the fundamentals!
We have probably all heard of the secret handshakes and the onus to aid a mason in any event even if it breaches the laws of the land and when another mason has committed a serious crime. The Brotherhood by Stephen Knight is a compelling read and
quite an eye opener! Prince Philip is also a very high ranking mason in this country and masons have a massive influence in the police, politics and the higher eschelons of society. In addition masons have come out of the lodges, have converted to Christianity and have explained what exactly happens during lodge meetings. Hence why I am able to write concerning this!
Firstly in the Gospels we are given the commission to preach the Gospel to every creature, starting at Judea, then Samaria and the ends of the earth. The church is one of the few organisations that I am aware of that doesn't exist primarily for it's members. True, it shouldn't be ignored that freemasons are often extensively involved in charitable works, however membership is by invitation only, secrets are guarded closely by binding oaths and punishment for giving away those secrets can be severe.
There are thirty three degrees (like levels) in freemasonry and the majority of masons only progress as far as the first three degrees. The mason will enter a lodge which has a chequered floor. The chequered floor is symbolic of dualism between dark and light, black and white, good and evil, god is both good and bad and it is remarkably similar to ying and yang and many Asian religions where there is no right and wrong prevailing but an endless struggle of dualism in the universe. What does 1 John 1:5 say? 'God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.'
Almost whatever holy book you desire can be used to swear by in the lodge. This could be a Bible, Quran, or a book from any major faith. Didn't Jesus say 'I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by Me.' In fact we shouldn't swear at all and it is obvious that this is a practise dishonouring to Yahweh the One true God!
If a mason advances beyond the three elementary degrees they may be taught secret names and rituals. One in particular is JAH-BUL-ON
This is derived from Jah = Yahweh the God of the Bible
Bul = Baal who Elijah won a victory against in 1 Kings 18
On = Osrisis Egyptian sun god
This clearly contradicts the Biblical mandate of worship to Yahweh alone!
If a mason advances beyond as far as the 30th degree plus it is likely they will be taught that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. This concept is also taught by the Mormon church and has resulted from a corrupted translation of Isaiah 14 where Lucifer is referred to as the morning star instead of son of the morning. Jesus is obviously the Morning Star see Rev 22:16. Furthermore masons maintain that Lucifer is good whilst Jesus is bad. It is clear from scripture that Jesus has always existed and Satan was a created being, so the idea that they are brothers is a blatant lie and the whole concept is a destructive heresy.
If you are in a church where you have freemasons among your number, compare scripture with what they are being taught and encourage them to leave their lodge. Obviously it is apparent that freemasons should not be permitted in church leadership of any form for the reasons listed above.
Christians need to diligently guard against false teaching. In Galatians 1:8-9 Paul wrote.
'But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, le him be accursed.'
These are strong words but is only takes a few drops of cyanide in a cocktail to bring about catastrophic consequences. That is why we must contend for the faith and hold fast to the pure doctrine!
