A warning on the dangers of the ecumenical movement!
In 1986 Pope John Paul II invited those from various faiths to offer prayers and worship together inside the Vatican including those from Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim backgrounds and even snake worshippers. Just exactly what is going on?
So how did we get from A to B? In an attempt to focus on similarites rather than differences truth was and is compromised. It's a little bit like how the European Community became the European Economic Community and is now the European Union. Tolerance is now the name of the game. Let's ignore what we know or even believe to be true so that everyone gets on. What is compromise? It is settling to agree on what no one actually agrees on and pretending its all the same and is what we want.
The World Council of Churches is one of the major players in the ecumenical movement. Initially the idea appeared to be an effort to get denominations to lay aside their differences, cooperate and abide in unity. Attempts were made to bridge between protestant and catholic beliefs. Please don't get me wrong I do not have a vendetta against catholics and those from other faiths. In-fact I have friends that are Jewish, Muslim, Christian etc... but the differences between Catholic dogma and protestant conviction cannot be settled over night without compromising truth!
Where does the Bible teach us to pray or worship Mary, honour the saints, have idols, rob people of their money to pay for purgatory which is also not mentioned in scripture? Where does penance fit in with grace, where are rosary beads in the Bible, the doctrine of transubstantiation and the pope being infallible? It doesn't! The above is based on tradition not truth! That is a problem because in five places in scripture we are clearly instructed not to take away or add to the word of God! (Deut 4:2, 12:32, Prov 30:6-7, Matt 5:17-18 & Rev 22:18) If we do we will be judged accordingly. Please read the last verses in the last chapter of Revelation and be careful what you believe and do!
I am pleased that there are Catholics that wish to be guided by the holy Spirit and I want them all to know God personally but that doesn't mean that all the major doctrinal differences can be swept under the carpet! Consider that Hindus will quite happily include Jesus in their list of Gods to be worshipped but that doesn't instantly make them born again believers. Yahweh the only wise God is a jealous God and He will not share His glory with any false gods!
Where is it all leading then? The people of the world want peace at any price. The price is compromising the truth! The Bible warns us of false Messiah's and of the Antichrist. Anti means replacement and the Antichrist will try to deceive many by pretending to be the Messiah. Does this seem incredulous to you? Why not read the Bible and watch the news and read the newspaper and I think the penny will drop. The Antichrist will attempt to achieve world dominion via one world government and one world religion. The false promise of peace and a seven year treaty with Israel as spoken of by Daniel shall be broken off after three years (42 months) during the Tribulation.
Don't be fooled by wolves in sheep's clothing! Broad is the way to destruction but narrow is the way to righteousness. Blessed are those who believe in Jesus, that He is the Son of God and those who are not willing to trade their faith in Him for popularity or compromise! Amen! |
