Biblical prophecy and proof I hear you cry!
The Bible is stuffed with proof that Jesus is the Son of God and that its content is accurate. The apostle Paul used to regularly expound scriptures to prove that Jesus is the Son of God particularly in the book of Acts. Luke writes that Jesus 'also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3).
Also 'Saul increased more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that Jesus is the Christ.' (Acts 7:22) Note that 'When he had come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood about and laid many serious complaints against Paul which they could not prove,' (Acts 25:7) See also (Acts 17:11, 18:4, 28:23-24)
Detailed information in the Scriptures reveals truths that are centuries ahead of its time. Job 38:31 instructs us concerning the relative distances of star constellations. ‘Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades or loose the belt of Orion' Before Columbus discussed the shape of the earth Isaiah wrote concerning its Maker 'It is He who sits above the circle of the earth and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers' (Isa 40:22) and Hebrews hints of what matter is comprised of 'By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.' (Heb 11:3)
In addition to salvation being based on GRACE - God's redeeming act at Christ's expense as opposed to all other beliefs and religions which are based entirely on merit through works and the fact that Jesus is still alive and is the only way to the Father (see John 14:6) THE BIBLE CONTAINS SUCH RICH CONTENT IN PROPHECY CONCERNING THE MESSIAH FROM OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY THAT A BETTING MAN WOULD BE A FOOL NOT TO EITHER QUESTION OR ACCEPT ITS CLAIMS! Consider that
Gen 12:3 Gentiles blessed through Jesus as the seed of Abraham (see Matt 1:1) Gen 49:10 The coming Ruler would be from the tribe of Judah (see Luke 1:32-33) Ex 16:4 Messiah to give true bread from heaven (see John 6:31-33) Num 24:7 Coming Ruler/Star from Jacob (see Luke 1:32-33, Rev 22:16) Deut 18:15 Jesus prophet like Moses (Acts 3:22) 2 Sam 7:14-16 Messiah to be God's Son and David's Son as eternal king (see Heb 1:5, Rev 19:11-16) Psalm 16:8-11 David's Son to be raised from the dead (Acts 2:25-32) Psalm 22:1 Jesus words on the cross (see Matt 27:46) Psalm 22:18 Casting lots for Jesus clothes (see Matt 27:35) Psalm 22:7-8 Messiah mocked by onlookers (see Matt 27:29) Psalm 34:20 Messiah to have no broken bones (See John 19:31-36) Psalm 41:9 Messiah betrayed by a friend (Judas) (see John 13:18) Psalm 69:9 Messiah's zeal for God's house (John 2:14-22) Isa 7:14 virgin birth of Messiah (see Luke 1:26-35) Isa 11:10 Salvation available for Gentiles (see Rom 15:12) Isa 40:3 Jesus forerunner (John the Baptist) voice in the wilderness (Matt 3:3) Isa 53:3 Messiah rejected by own people (see John 1:11) Isa 53:12 Messiah buried in rich man's grave (Matt 27:38) Jer 23:5-6 David's Son to be a great King and Saviour (Luke 1:32-33 & Matt 1:21) Dan 7:13-14 Timetable for Messiah's coming 69 weeks = Shabua sevens of years 483 yrs or 173880 days from command to restore Jerusalem to Messiah being cut off (see Nehemiah 2 until Palm Sunday and Gal 4:4) Hos 11:1 Jesus return to Egypt (Matt 2:14-15) Jonah 1:17 Messiah to be three days and nights in grave (Matt 12:39-40) Micah 5:2 Messiah as eternal king, tribe of Judah and born in Bethlehem Eprathah (Luke 1:32-33) Zec 9:9 Coming ruler to enter Jerusalem on a colt the foal of a donkey (see Mark 11:1-10) Zec 11:12-13 Jesus sold for 30 shekels of silver (see Matt 27:1-10) Zec 13:7 Striking the coming Messiah and the sheep flee (Matt 26:31, 26:55-56)
The above is a handful of the 330 plus prophecies concerning the Messiah from between four hundred to a couple of thousand years before the arrival of the Messiah. No other sacred writing/script has a prophetic record anything like as accurate and exact as the Bible. In addition there is also independent evidence in favour of the Holy Bible. The dead sea scrolls supports the Holy Bible, in particular the Isaiah scroll and so does Josephus the Jewish historian who was captured by the Romans and Tacitus the Roman Historian. Furthermore the British Museum contains a book entitled 'The Bible in the British Museum' which contains 72 Biblical artifacts. The Bible Lands Museum is also well worth a visit. Lastly chariot wheels have been discovered in the Red Sea and the Hittite people were considered to be unvouched for until recently and now there is a museum in Ankara, Turkey confirming the same.
Thomas doubted even though he had been with Jesus and His disciples for three years, witnessed miracles and heard His teaching of which no man on earth has had anything like as much influence. When He finally put his hands in His side Thomas declared 'My Lord and My God!' (John 20:28). Maybe you need to do the same! Get real with God and search the scriptures as the Bereans did to see whether these things are true! If they are then repent of your sins now, believe In Him , follow Him and receive Him into your life by the Holy Spririt and you will be saved!!! (see John 1:12, 3:16, Romans 10:9)
If you have just committed your life to Jesus then don't leave it there, read the Bible, pray , meet with others and tell others. Amen |
