Absolute Truth in an Age of Relativism

In post-modern Britain, is it illogical, outdated or arrogant to define what absolute truth constitutes? Can the plumb line of truth be utilized to discern right from wrong. Can truth be proven or disproven one way or the other? If there are no absolutes are there any certainties in this world? Furthermore does it really matter or affect one's lifestyle to be committed to biblical truth in the Lord Jesus Christ who is the truth?

Michael Jackson-Tragic death-Even more tragic life! Music, life, death and after that...

Michael Jackson seemingly had everything, money, power, status, fame, fortune, though Saturday's headline in the Daily Telegraph describes him as 'The Loneliest Man On Earth'. He may have been described as revolutionary and music is an incredibly powerful tool for good and bad, but what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and yet loses his own soul? (Matt 16:26)

What does God require us to do?

What follows conversion for the Bible believing Christian? Is it about sacrifice and offering and pilgrimage as some maintain, or is it just about 'being a child of God' and resting in His presence? Or are the above, loaded, inadequate, oversimplified questions that fail to yearn for what God wants us to do and how we can please Him?

On this rock I will build My church

‘And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it' (Matthew 16:18)

For hundreds of years, Matthew 16:18 has been one of the most controversial, misunderstood and misused verses in Scripture. Traditionally Roman Catholics teach that Peter is the rock and founder of ‘the Church'. Conversely numerous Protestant denominations consider Jesus to be the rock mentioned in this verse. Determining what it actually means is critical since the application refers to either a reliance on a man focused, institutionalised religion, or a God centred faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who is the head of the body.

God's love, assured salvation & role of the Spirit for the believer!

What was the extent of God's love to us before we believed in Him? Even though we were children of wrath (Ephesians 2v3) consider that... 'But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us' (Romans 5v8)

Does the Bible ever teach loving/forgiving oneself?

An epidemic is encroaching into pulpits and study groups worldwide at the moment. It's the concept that you have to love and esteem yourself before it is possible to love God or your neighbour. Is this Biblical? Let's review what the Scriptures reveal...

Jesus said "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." (John 14v21) What a promise friends!

Love God and do what you like?

I believe we are no longer under law but that doesn't mean we have been granted a license for misdemeanor. Some people talk about freedom in Christ but never in the way Paul intended!...

Why absolute truth is so important!

Is there such a thing as absolute truth? Are morals relative and where would you draw the line? If you don't believe in absolute truth how can you be absolutely sure of what you don't believe in or anything for that matter?

What is the purpose of our existence?

To glorify God (that is Yahweh God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) 'Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him' (Isaiah 43:7)

Yes, we have been created by Him and He desires that none should perish so that we may have everlasting life.

How to witness to those from other faiths

Considering that over eighty percent of the world's population adheres to some variety of religious faith and the Great Commission in Matthew 28 and Mark 16, is not optional... as believers we should be asking 'How do we witness to those from other faiths?'

Is Freemasonry and Christianity Compatible?

Is freemasonry a social organisation or a religion? Are the two compatible or do they sharply contradict each other? Let's examine the fundamentals!

We have probably all heard of the secret handshakes and the onus to aid a mason in any event even if it breaches the laws of the land and when another mason has committed a serious crime. The Brotherhood by Stephen Knight is a compelling read and

THE LORD'S PRAYER

One of the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, so He gave them the Lord's prayer which is an excellent model for prayer. There's so much in it that books have been devoted solely to expounding its meaning, relevance and application.

We are commanded to pray at all times and without ceasing (Eph 6v18,1 Thess 5v17) Also another helpful memory aid is ACTS. Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication.

Maybe this is an unfamiliar concept and we feel we should love God for who He is instead of going bounty hunting! That's fair comment but more importantly let's look at what the Bible says regarding the above!

WHAT ABOUT THE GNOSTIC GOSPELS AND THE APOCRYPHA?!!

An agnostic is someone who isn't certain of what they know specifically with regard to religion hence the Gnostic's claimed to have a higher revealed secretive knowledge. Why obedience is better than sacrifice! How can we please God?

It's natural for us to want to please our parents and similarly we want to please our heavenly Father,'but without faith it is impossible to please Him' (Heb 11:5) So how can we do the will of God and do exactly what He requires of us?

I've seen many people in different ways trying to please God through sacrifice. I've seen documentaries of people in South-East Asian countries voluntarily crucifying themselves for a short period of time as a type of honorary penance.

This passage contains numerous prophecies concerning the events leading up to and the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. This "Servant song" starts at 52v13 and culminates at 53v12. This demonstrates Jesus as the Lion and the Lamb, of whom David (kingship) was a type and also Joseph (suffering)!

Child like in our faith or understanding? What about Maturity?

Jesus blessed the little children saying "Let the little children come to Me and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." (Mark 10v15)

Obviously heart knowledge is more important than head knowledge and preaching should convince others into moral action, to imitate Jesus both in word and action. However there is a disturbing misconception prevalent today that the maturity and
