Sign from God
 I
work for a small telecommunications company, based in the south
of England.
The company employed a new lad, an electronics design engineer,
his name was Paul. As I got to know Paul, I discovered he was a
follower of Jesus, a Christian. He was different from the Christians
I had met before, his life revolved around God, totally dedicated
and full of knowledge of Him. He was always talking about Jesus
and God and he was always smiling and happy. Paul was only 26 years
old, but extremely intelligent. The people at work belittled
him, they treated him as a fool (because he believed in Jesus),
but Paul just smiled and took it.

He replied, "Because I talk to God and He talks to me.
I have also witnessed the power of God through the healing of many
sick people..."
This was the start to my inquisitiveness, for many days I asked
him further questions. As time passed I got to know him better and
discovered more of his hidden intelligence. I was perplexed
that such an intelligent man, believed in God. I thought people
who believed in Jesus were fools, deceived and soft. But how could
such an intelligent man be? And Paul's very nature pointed to the
truth about Gods existence, so I continued asking him questions
about his faith.
 One
day during tea-break, I was with some of the guys in the works canteen,
Paul was there also, talking to the guys about God. They were arguing
with him about Gods existence. Paul said to them "why don't
you ask Him if He exists?" and he later said to me, "anyone
who earnestly asks God for a sign, will receive it."
I never disregard what people say without weighing up the evidence.
With open mind, I took Paul at his word; I asked God if He existed,
and asked for a sign. To my amazement, I received an answer!
Asking for a Sign
(Wednesday, 1st of November 2000)
When I got home from work, I went to my bedroom and knelt. With
much emotion and close to tears, I asked God (from my heart) to
send me a sign, a sign so I knew He was out there and that He could
hear me.
The following day I received that sign, as God graciously revealed
Himself to me through a series of events.
The
Events
Morning
The following morning when I arrived at work, I sat down at my desk
and went through my post. Among the post was a Letter
which stood out from the others. It was from an Oil
Company and consisted of both a letter
and leaflet
The leaflet pictured an Oil Truck
and mentioned the word FREE.
This grabbed my attention and I pondered over the picture of the
truck for a while.
Mid Day
It was soon lunch time and Paul asked if I would like to go
for a walk by the river. As we walked, he asked me what was stopping
me from becoming a Christian. His exact words were, "what's
HOLDING you back?" I didn't want to answer this question
so I avoided it.
After Lunch Paul showed me a Christian website www.cybergrace.com,
he said that people can e-mail them and ask for prayer. I thought
this was all getting a bit too heavy, I disliked the idea and considered
not speaking with him anymore.
Later in the afternoon, I browsed that Christian website. There
was an article on becoming a Christian. The article said that to
become a Christian, you must start with a prayer
and ask the Lord Jesus Christ into your life, as your saviour. The
prayer was there on the page so I said it, then I asked God to give
me a sign.
(After saying this prayer I felt slightly
dizzy).
Evening
The day soon passed and it was time to go home, so I set off
on my motorcycle. But no sooner had I started my journey than I was
stopped by a set of traffic lights. While waiting for the lights to
change, I asked God for the sign again. I said "please give me
a sign God, so I know you are listening, so I know you are there,
and I will become a Christian"
As
I waited for the traffic lights to change, I noticed an Oil
Truck go by. It was from the same oil Company that had caught
my eye in the Letter that morning.
I thought to myself "oh look, there's that truck",
the truck drove by and I gave it no more thought.
The lights changed and I continued home. There was a big queue
of traffic ahead, which I overtook. I was now about 4 cars behind
the truck. For the next mile of my journey, I continued praying
to God, asking for a sign. The cars behind the truck started turning
off, one by one, until I was directly behind the truck. Again I
asked God, "God give me
a sign please, please God that's all I need".
 Then
I noticed the Number Plate on
the truck, it read "GOD".
My heart started thumping as it slowly dawned on me this could be
the sign. I said to God "is this the sign?" My emotions
began to rise and a smile beamed across my face. God has given
me a sign!
Completely amazed, I thanked Him and asked for confirmation, I
said
"If this is a sign from you God, then let the rest of the
number plate mean something too".
The other part of the number plate was M48
When I arrived home, I went up to my bedroom.
On my bedside cabinet were several books. I picked up a bible and
turned to Matthew 4:8, then Mark 4:8, but nothing. Not wanting to
give up I went through all prophets whose name started with 'M'
and looked for section or page 4:8, again nothing. Disappointed
I walked away.
About 20 minutes later, I decided to look again and there on my
bedside cabinet next to the books was another bible! Titled "The
MESSAGE" (The New Testament in
contemporary language). Could this be the M
I was looking for? I turned to page 48.
And there on the page was the heading To
Enter Gods Kingdom
I read through the passage, it spoke of what
HOLDS people back, from entering Gods kingdom. The same
topic Paul had been asking me about, during lunchtime when
he had said to me "Marc what's HOLDING you back?"
Later
So I became a Christian and to this very day, like Paul, I confirm
that God exists. And that I talk to Him and He talks to me and that
I have witnessed His power through many many, many things(check

If you don't believe me - why don't you ask for a sign from God?
